Today’s featured publication is The Writer With No Hands, which tells the true story of Hollywood’s forgotten rebel, Gary Devore, and my search for the brutal truth in a world where everyone lies for a living.
Many of you will know there’s a novel - but did you know I also scripted it for stage, too?
I hate to complain about lockdown, since so many people had it far worse. In my case, I had flights booked to film Oliver Stone in America and the former Iranian foriegn minister in Iran - and I was also due to tour this play.
In the end, none of that could happen - despite the excellent work of dramaturge Martin Curtis and later Simon Capes, who had prepared me over the previous year to perform in public.
For me, by the time the pandemic was over, the idea of revisiting the play felt like restarting a rusty old chainsaw.
While the novel itself is more substantial, I think you’ll enjoy the script, too - and it’s on Amazon for just £4.99.
I did eventually got to perform it twice - once in The Beaufort Bookshop and also online as part of the Edinburgh Festival. A low-fi extract survived here from mid-pandemic - if you must watch it, ignore the haircut!
As you know, my aim is to push for a better foreign policy, a more accountable media, and ultimately a safe world - having a laugh along the way.
For the equivalent of buying me a coffee each month you could become a supporter on Substack or YouTube.

This video about my work by Lex Imperii has zipped past 10,000 views - it’s in French but thought I’d post here as it looks nice.
Cheers!
